Blog/Go-Steelers--or-something
After having followed a job-hunting course for the last month, i am now back in the unemployment line again - well almost. I have a job-interview tomorrows - lot's of C++ it seems, so that looks promising.
Ok, there is nothing useful in this post, so i might as well put in some sillyness, try the following test, and see how you fare. Turns out, i'm black coffee, and highly addicted, no surprise there.
You are a Black Coffee
At your best, you are: low maintenance, friendly, and adaptable
At your worst, you are: cheap and angsty
You drink coffee when: you can get your hands on it
Your caffeine addiction level: high

LOL, that is a great test. Turns out i'm an espresso :)
[HTML_REMOVED]At your best, you are: straight shooting, ambitious, and energetic At your worst, you are: anxious and high strung You drink coffee when: anytime you're not sleeping Your caffeine addiction level: high[HTML_REMOVED]
Now big surprise there. :)
Can you by the way give 2xKasper and me some advice about what we should sign up for, when we also join you in the unemployment line this summer?
Hope that you get the job! Do you mind telling where it is at?
Caffeine addiction seems to be an integral part of [HTML_REMOVED]nerd-hood[HTML_REMOVED].
Well, i don't really know what you should sign up for. But the important thing, that you don't hear much about on the university (or maybe i wasn't listening), is to [HTML_REMOVED]get in touch with the companies[HTML_REMOVED] - so make an entrance to the different career fairs arranged. This will give an idea of the companies that exists around you.
For example, i had never heard of Lyngsoe Systems (http://lyngsoesystems.com), situated in Aars, before we visited them in the course mentioned in the blog. And they have 170 people on the payroll and create huge Java applications for logistics, and are going to increase to about 600 in the next 7-8 years.
When it gets to writing job applications, the general consensus on the course i followed was to call the business before writing the application, and ask a few intelligent questions. This will make the guy reading the applications remember - hey, this is that Anders guy's application.
I haven't practised this myself (actually i didn't even write a job-application to the place where i was interviewed today, only mailed my resume), but i can see how it will make you more likely to be called in to an interview.
This is getting longer and longer, maybe it warrants an entire blog-post.
Oh, and the company i attended today are Gatehouse (http://gatehouse.dk) - very interesting systems, nice people and a quite wide range of business-areas.
