Today we will witness the biggest americans run around in tights! I love it!
It will be burgers and beer at my place to night, superbowl runs from 12 midnight to 6 in the morning here in denmark. My money is on the patriots.
The obligatory University note:
We are not quite sure what we'll be doing this semester - it started out as being "create a game for a mobile platform" but we tried to turn it into "build a 3d game", well we succeeded in that. But now the talk is "re-implement your first game in 3D" - which is not really what we ment. In our group we are voting for a 3d-platform game - ala Megaman meets Pandemonioum - but if we have to work on our old game we are planning on adding some Final Fantasy like combat system into the mix.
One thing that is clear, however, is that we will use the Virtools 3d engine - i've never used it - but it doesn't run on Linux so i'll have to get some windows environment running for development in some way (unless Wine is able to use it - fingers crossed). I'm not quite sure how they decided on the Virtools product - perhaps because it is the same engine that some of us will be using if we get to be on the cross-production team that will go to Copenhagen in May and work with some game-designers, animators and artists.
Also, Virtools doesn't seem to be that much used in the industry - so i'm not quite sure what to expect. Also they have divided all their stuff into smaller modules that you can then "add-on" to the base product core - this usually translates to a very high price - but i think that being an educational institution they will get a discount.
More on this later - now i'm off to waiting for the guys to arive - and try not to start getting drunk prematurely.
